Hi people around the world! Today I did 'What in the World'. There were ten clues and they were all about different animals. Some of them were superman hard and some of them easy-pezy lemon squeezy (but most of them were superman hard). They were all really challenging but one stood out like a tiger in a fat hippo habitat. Anyway here are some of the questions... I will answer them next week. Okay, goodbye, see you next week with your answers. Signed off Eddie !

These are the questions:

1 I'm an endangered carnivorous giant who hunts at night in the NZ bush. My scientific name is powelliphanta.

2 Ken Tustin has been searching for this animal in Dusky sound since 1972 and still hasn't seen one, but he believes they are there.

3 I'm a fish that was imported from California where I'm known as a Steelhead. In NZ I'm called a....

The answers... You will find out next week hehehehehehe!!!

Architect/Engineer

Hello, today at Enrich you will never believe it but I went to GM designs and I talked to an Architect and an Engineer. The Architects name was Matt Anderson and the Engineers name was Graeme McMiller (Graeme was the boss of GM designs). First I went to Matt and he showed me the house that he designed on his computer - it was cool. He also showed me how much you have to work out before you can build the house (there was so much work). Afterwards I went in to Graeme's office and he told me an architect does the fluffy easy things and an Engineer does all the tricky things. Graeme said if one bolt was out of place on a bridge and if someone was on the bridge while it collapsed he could go to jail. If I'm an Engineer when I am older and that happened to me I would be scared out of my skin. Then Graeme showed me bridges that he designed. They were cool as. But sadly I had to go and now I don't  know what I want to be (jeepers I was confused).

Hurricane Sandy

G'day mate, today at Enrich I did a workshop called Hurricane Sandy with Jenny we were talking about the hurricane in New York (jeepers I would hate to be at New York when the hurricane struck). We were talking about how it would effect them and the what they would be feeling and what would some of the solutions. We also talked about what would you do if  there was going to be a hurricane in one  hour. After we talked about if the New York people would have been warned. That's what I did at the workshop Hurricane Sandy.

Charcoal Landscapes

Hello, today at Enrich I did charcoal landscape with Jenny because Darryn had the flu. First we watched a clip on the internet about someone making a charcoal landscape ( jeepers his one was good). After that we got a huge piece of paper and ripped it in to mountains it was really hard (my first try was horrendous). So I had to do it again. Afterwards I got a cotton ball and spread charcoal all over it ( it was really messy) and put the ripped piece that looked like mountains and put it on another big piece of paper and we traced around the ripped piece of paper on the other big piece of paper so it looked like mountains then I lowered the ripped piece of paper and did another row of mountains. When I finished the mountains I used a charcoal  pencil and made the trees and after I just had to use hair spray so the charcoal wouldn't spread all over the page and then I was done!!!

MacGyver Tech Challenge

Hello, Today at Enrich I we did a tech challenge I really liked even though it was really hard and nobody completed it. It was a MacGyver challenge (jeepers he good). I buddied up with Charlie and Claudia. We made a big stick out of newspaper and put a plastic bag on the front of it so it could hook up the chisel and a hammer in time to drag it back to me (I had my feet trapped in concrete and needed to get out of the concrete so I could defuse a bomb!).  The chisel and hammer were 2.5 metres away.

Fly Tying family

Hello!, today at Enrich I did fly tying with Matt (again). Today I did a fly family they were custom flies. I really enjoy making flies especially custom flies because you can put anything you want on it. And you can use your imagination and you make absolutely anything. I like the seals fur because it is highlighter green it matches with the black and I am a fan of black because I like dark colours.

Fly Tying

G'day, today at Enrich I did passion time I did fly tying with Matt. I really enjoy fly tying thats why I do it every week. This time I did a fly called a Hare & Copper fishing fly which Darryn said was good at catching Trout. I like tying flies because you put all sorts of things on it (the fish must be insane) because you put really light colours on them and on others you put dark colours on the flies. Any way I love making them even know some are difficult and fun and some Darryn say are easy but I think they are hard but all of them are fun to make (but hard).

Followed by Kanpur, India is number 9 air polluted with 209 micrograms per cubic meter. Then Yasouj, Iran is number 8 air polluted with 215 micrograms per cubic meter. Next was Gaborone, Botswana is number 7 air polluted with 216 micrograms per cubic meter. After was Peshawar, Pakistan is number 6 with 219 micrograms per cubic meter. Afterwards was Kermanshah, Iran is number 5 with 229 micrograms per cubic meter. Followed by Ludhiana, India is number 4 with 251 micrograms per cubic meter. Then Sanandaj, Iran is number 3 with 254 micrograms per cubic meter. Next was Ulaan Baator, Mongolia is number 2 with 279 micrograms per cubic meter. And finally, the most polluted city is...... Ahvaz, Iran With 372 micrograms per cubic meter!!! I wondered how come there wasn't any cities from China in the top ten air polluted cities. And a fact is there was four cities from Iran in the top ten.

Teacher Comment

Hi Eddie.
You have taken on a real leadership role within your environment group.  Great to see you organising the other boys today so that you had your questions all prepared for your visit to see Mr Mitchell at Waihopai School this afternoon.  When we arrived to meet Mr Mitchell, you were very business-like: calm and professional, and you asked some great questions about the logistics surrounding the painted playground templates at Waihopai School.  I hope you managed to get some fly-tying in before the end of the day - great to see you continuing with this activitiy - obviously a real passion for you.  Well done on a great day Eddie.  Katie.

Wilson game

G'day, today at Enrich I played a Wilson game it was really fun and testing in your brain. I really enjoyed the game. It was a quite hard game because there were four teams, we got four beanbag things and my group got a hippo, a gorilla, a square beanbag and a frog type thing. There were four hoops for each team, each hoop was further away than the first. The teams had to throw each beanbag in to the hoops we had to throw it at the first hoop than the second hoop than the third hoop than the last hoop it is harder than it sounds. But it was really fun!

Creative Writing

G'day mates, today at Enrich I did creative writing with Darryn I really enjoyed it it was extraordinary. Today we did another story I did it about catching my first fish last week I did it about the highest diving board at splash palace I think I did a better story about the highest diving board than catching my first fish. I just did better punctuation and better description than catching my first fish. But they were both pretty funny. I love doing creative writing it's tremendous!

Cartooning

Hello, today at Enrich I did the second cartooning session with Katie. I really enjoyed it again. Today we looked at cartoons made from eleven to twenty my two favorites was probably fourteen witch and eighteen rugby player. I drew them and it was really easy and fun.My favourite drawing was probably eighteen rugby player it was harder then the fourteen witch.
Cartoons are fun to make because you draw them and then you add things to it and its really funny like I added the pimple to the witch and the really angry face to the rugby player. I also did twelvis (elvis), but it didn't work out that well.

Cartooning

Hello, today at Enrich I did cartooning with Katie , I really liked it, it was fun and funny because everyone put funny things on the cartoons. First I chose cartooning because its fun to draw and do. The first one I did was 6 man I call him that because I made him out of a six. Then I did the 7 vampire because I made him out of a seven and it ended up being a vampire. After that I did messy S man because he is really messy and he is made out of a capital S.  6 man was my favourite because instead of just a face I made him into a real man. If you want to see more cartoon faces go to www.Studuval.com take my advise and go to it, it is really cool!

Science

G'day mate, today at Enrich I did science it was really hilarious because everyone kept getting a shock. We had two groups of 4 and one group of 3. I was with Max, Jacob and Matt. First we had to get  8 d batteries, 3 inch toilet paper roll, a jar (with no lid), a red and black alligator wire ( with rubber on the end for safety, unlike my group did), pencil lid, electrical tape (make sure it is really long), a tinfoil plate, and then you are ready to go. Get the tape and the 8 batteries and tape the batteries together really tight or it won't work. Then get the toilet paper roll the tape and the alligator wire tape the alligator wire to the toilet paper roll and make sure that is tight as well. After put the toilet paper roll (with the alligator wire attached to it) on the tinfoil plate, then put the pencil lead in the alligators connection bit, after put the jar over the toilet paper roll (that is on the tinfoil plate) to make it stay still and then put the alligator bit (that is not taped to the toilet paper roll) so it is touching the batteries the red one on the left side of the batteries and the black one on the right side of the batteries and don't take the black or red wire off the batteries or it won't work. Then wait for the magic to happen!

Mural sketch

G'day, today at Enrich I sketched a mural about Southland. It was really fun and easy because we didn't have to colour it fully in instead we only had to scribble it in carefully. I worked with Matt and Max we started off with drawing the water tower. While I was drawing the water tower Matt was searching up Southland icons for us to copy and Max was drawing the flax bushes and trees. After I drew the mountains I drew three mountains. When I finished I moved on to drawing the river that went from the sea behind the water tower and up a mountain it got skinnier and skinnier and skinnier as it went up the mountain. Afterwards I drew the sand to make the sea more detailed Max coloured it in.Then I drew the museum that Max also coloured in. And then we had no time left and we presented it to the class. But at playtime Max and Matt added extra detail so it had no more white spaces. So Max drew the McDonald's and KFC and Enrich. And Matt drew the umbrella and the bricks that had Max, Matt and Eddie on them. And thats how we made this piece of art.

Science Chemistry

Hello, today at Enrich I made elephant toothpaste I really enjoyed it it looked really cool. It was exciting when we put the yeast in the cylinder. I will know tell you how we made the elephant toothpaste, these are the things you will need a cylinder,
one cup, soap, flowing soap, yeast, food colouring, hydrogen peroxide, hot water and then you are ready to go. First put the hydrogen peroxide in the cylinder and half full it. and then put some flowing soap in it to make it bubbly put about three squirts in. Afterwards put the soap in to cause even more bubbles. After the soap put the food colour in the cylinder and what ever colour you put in the toothpaste it will turn in to. When you have done that put one and a half teaspoons of yeast in the cup and put the hot water in as well and stir really well. When you are ready pour the cup into the cylinder and stand back and watch the fun.

Current Affiars

Today at Enrich, I did current affiars with Alana. At current affiars we talked about the soft drinks and if the government should increase the tax on them. We talked about why do soft drinks have so much sugar  in them and we talked about could the shops get shut down because people won't buy things if they are too expensive. We made a mind map about  how much tax we are paying to the Government . We did Current  affairs because we had finished all the calculations on our smurf so we did current affairs.

Kowhaiwhai Patterns

Today at Enrich, I contuined on with my  kowhaiwhai pattern it was really hard but I really liked it. I did a boomerang type of thing it is really cool. I enjoyed doing every bit of it. The only thing that was really hard it is that we had to scribble it on to the board. But it was all really worth it.

This turned into this!!!

Canstruction

Today at Enrich, I did canstruction. I really like canstruction because its got a lot of maths in it and I love maths. I really enjoy taking away and adding. The only bad thing about it is that its really hard, because we have to make 28 blocks going up and 16 blocks going across and we have to do it on Activinspire. But I really really enjoy canstruction and I can't wait until we make the smurf.

Mind Mapping

Today at Enrich, I did mind mapping with Alana. I really enjoyed it. We made a mind map about school. That was the only bad thing about mind mapping though. But the good thing was that we got to do the students perspective because it was basically my perspective. But we did the teachers perspective and I struggled a lot because I don't know what the teachers think about the kids.

Building a pyramid on a computer

Today at Enrich,I did a pick that was building a pyramid I thought it was interesting when I had to pick a type of brick I would work with and then I had to pick a angle that the pyramid would be on and after I had to choose how many workers I needed to work with. I thought it was cool when I got to control a boat to a village.I did not like it at all when I had to start again because I started it again about ten times. It really was a problem solving challenge!
