Hi! My name is Eddie. I am year 6 and I go to Enrich every Monday. Enrich is a school for gifted kids. I like passion time - you do something that you would like to learn. I really enjoy coming to Enrich. We have 4 cornerstones; they are Concept Curriculum, Affective Domain, Mental Edge and Talent Development.I really enjoy going to the mental edge table because you play games that make you think.

Design your own
This one is entirely made out of sand! |
It's very important not to over think it and to let your brain just go with the flow. They are really fun to make and draw. Design your own mandalas!
P.S don't use sand on your first go. Warning: may frustrate you or make you angry!

Haunted Forever.
Hello. Today at Enrich we learnt about Digital Citizenship. This means that someone could have lots and lots of information about you and could be selling your information to people that want it. Never post information to people that you wouldn't tell face to face, because they could use it and do anything with it. When you post something you have absolutely no control over it at all and it could come back and haunt you forever.

Abstract expressionist
Hello, today at Enrich I did art with Katie. The art was called Abstract impressionist that originated from world war 2. Abstract impressionist is when you saturate your brush and wave it round above a canvas it will drip drop and splat! The hard thing about it is knowing when to stop or change colour and try to never let the paintbrush touch the canvas. If you get it wet enough it will create a lines when you wave it round the canvas instead of blobs. I really enjoyed it and I hope you do to. http://www.jacksonpollock.org

Signed by Jive Records
Hello and welcome back to my blog. Today we carried on with Affective Domain about our gifted individual. As you know I was doing Zinzan Brooke but since then I have changed to Chris Brown the singer, songwriter, dancer and actor. I changed to him because I know him a lot more then Zinzan Brooke and he is one of my favourite singers. He was signed by Jive records when he was only 15. In 2008 the billboard named him "Artist of the Year" and in 2011 he won a grammy award for the best R&B album for "F.A.M.E" (the song). I really like Chris Brown because he has lots of cool songs and he is world famous!

Zinzan Brooke
Hello, today at Enrich I did affective study. We had to chose someone who is gifted or that suits Renzulli's model of giftedness (task commitment, above average ability and creativity). I'm doing Zinzan Brooke who was an All Black in 1987 and he was in the very first world cup that New Zealand won. He played as a number 8. But the only thing I'm worried about is if he is actually creative. We have to present our person on a poster, prezi etc. We got a list of things we had to include in our presentation including pictures of mentors/coaches, pictures and facts about our person and lots more. I really enjoy doing this but I'm under pressure with time. Wish me luck!

Impressionism
Hello, today at Enrich I went to the second art workshop with Katie. We looked at Claud Monet's impression art - it is really cool, I like how it's your impression and you can do what ever you want with it as long as you see the picture. We got to paint lily pads in the water which was really cool because we just mixed random colours together and made really cool colours in our water. Claud Monet made simple easy flowers but really effective. The way he painted was called "tache" which is french for touch. In Claud Monet's paintings he brushed landscape for the bits he wanted to stand out, and vertical for the backgrounds. In paintings today, people make sure it is perfect but it doesn't have to be perfect. I really like Claud Monets paintings.

The Art Gallery
Hello, today at Enrich I went on an adventure to the Bank Art Gallery. We went to the gallery because we were looking at patterns in art. There were loads of patterns everywhere I was amazed. On the way to the gallery we saw every type of pattern. At the gallery we saw lots of different things like wood carvings, oil on canvas paintings and lots more. My favourite type of paintings was oil on canvas because it stood out and it looked 3d. I didn't like the wood carving because I didn't like the design of it. The trip
was absolutely awesome!
was absolutely awesome!

My goat head stonecarving
Hello, I have had a awesome day here at Enrich. But one of the best is getting to do passion time (my goat head stonecarving). I have filed the sides so you don't see the lines/cracks down the sides. I have also made it smoother on the back of the neck, It was usually rough. It's getting better and better as each week flies by. I love working on my stonecarving I really enjoy it. We have also done a time patterns workshop. We had to write down all that we have learnt over the four weeks. We learnt about ancient ways to tell time and about the past, present and future. It was a terrific day at Enrich (like always).

Circus act
Hello, today at Enrich Lauren came in and talked about her life at the circus. The circus was called Aoteroa circus. Lauren did lots of awesome acts. One of the acts was hanging from a fabric tied to the roof of the circus tent and doing cool tricks. Another act was pretending to be a little girl with her three big brothers that didn't want her around. So they kept trying to throw her away and she did flips and somersaults and cool tricks in the air. Lauren also walked across bottles ( champagne bottles because they were thicker and not likely to break. She threw the bottles up in the air at the end and did tricks. Overall it was really cool, amazing and unbelievable!

Prezi
Hello. Today at Enrich, I learnt about Prezi. Prezi is sort of like keynote, but is online and you can share it with the public and lots of cool things. On Prezi you can make a slideshow. First you pick an awesome template or you can make your own. Then there are all these bubble type things that you type in to present your information. When you are finished, you can click on the pages on the side and it will zoom into them. It looks cool when you are at one and then you click on the one that is furtherest away from it and it does a 3D effect to get to it. It looks really cool. I love Prezi because there are loads of things to do on it.

Keynote success
YA! Finally. I have finally finished my keynote. The keynote was all about patterns. There are four groups of patterns beauty, order, strength and survivability also known as b.o.s.s. I learnt that any type of pattern fits in to any one of them groups. For example leaves and trees are a pattern of survivability because they give out oxygen to humans and we give carbon dioxide out to leaves and trees. So we help each other to survive!

Patterns of behaviour
Behaviour! Today at Enrich I did a teacher led workshop called "patterns of behaviour "because our concept curriculum is about patterns. We learn't what the difference is between feelings, thoughts and behaviour. Behaviours are things you do naturally like breathe, sleep, eat and drink. Feelings are things like anger, happiness, anxiousness and sadness. Thoughts are things like imagining and analysing. This is the sheet that we had to do.

A piece of stone and a saw
This is a mess! Today Jordan and I continued on our stone carvings. But first we had to clean up the whole, entire shed! It was so annoying.
But soon enough we got to work. I had to cut, cut and cut. My hands were killing me, it felt like they were about to fall right off! Luckily they didn't. I chiseled a bit of it because I love chiseling things.
After we had to clean the shed again. I filled my sheet on what we did today as I went. Jordan had to fill it out but he couldn't because he had to brush himself down, and I got it first and kept stalling him.

The Pit
Hello, today I did a teacher led workshop called the pit! It was with Katie. We talked about when you're feeling stressed, nervous or even embarrassed. First you feel stressed and like oh no. Then SMACK! you're in the pit feeling sorry about yourself. Then when you tell someone about it (like a teacher, friend or your Mum and Dad) they will help you out of the pit. You will feel happy, loved and nice inside. That is what I learnt about the pit!. The one spot I wouldn't want to be in is the pit.
Comment and tell me what spot you wouldn't or would like to be in the most.

Student led workshop
Hello, first things first. I went to a student led workshop led by Luke. At the workshop we learnt all
about scholars. We learnt how to do the bishop scholars, it is a really basic scholars but it's really
effective, you can win the game in 4 moves! We also learnt the knight scholars move, it's pretty helpful when you're in trouble and you have a knight and a queen.
We also learnt what a fork is in chess, it is when your bishop can take out your castle or your king it's pretty cool when it happens on your opponent not on you because that would be really, really bad.
That is what I learnt at the student led workshop that was led by Luke.

Stone Carving
Hello! I hope you loved your holidays! Today I continued doing my goats head for passion time. I had to draw a goats head on the stone, but then I realised my stone had a hole in it so I had to cut around and then draw my goat it was frustrating because I needed that piece. But luckily I had just enough space to draw. I had practiced drawing it on its front and done a little bit on it's side so I was quite annoyed. I got stuck on the ear so I kept having to look back to my book. Soon enough I got to cut the stone it was very, very difficult. My hand was getting sorer and sorer but then Darryn came and finished it in about 5 seconds!

Passion Project
Hello, today at Enrich I looked on the internet for a goats head I had to draw to start my stonecarving I decided I would just do the head not the body because what does a body actually have on it that is exciting (nothing).
So I just did the head I'm doing it for my Dad (he farms goats). First I had draw the shape of the head then the horns and ears after I did the nostrils (they were hard). But the mouth was the hardest because I always kept making it and it looked really weird it was frustrating. This is the picture I copied ( well tried to)

Model of Giftedness
HI! Today I did Gagnes model of giftedness. We learnt about giftedness. This is Renzullis model of giftedness. It is made up by above average ability, Creativity and Task Commitment. Task Commitment is when you stick to something you have started and not dropping it and walking away, but keep at it and finish it. Creativity is to use your imagination and make up things to make it different and inspirational and fun. Above Average Ability is to make it more than average, its to make it the best you can ever do. Gagnes model of giftedness is natural abilities that include creative, intellicutual, socio-affective and sensorimotor. Then Chance comes in. There is Intrapersonal that includes physical/mental characteristics and self management. Then it goes Enviormental, which includes milieu, persons, provisions and Events. The last one is Systematically which includes Academics, Arts, Business, leisure, social actions, sports and technology. That is Gagnes model of giftedness. That is the workshop I did today with Darryn.

Passion Time
NO!, I can't find a decent idea to make a stonecarving with.... Wait a minute, there it is! THE ONE! It had four korus and it had a base so it wouldn't fall over and break. It was the one, it was the coolest stonecarving I had ever seen. I just had to do it. I showed Darryn and he said I had to draw it five times so I knew it off by heart. So I started drawing and on the fourth time my hand was so sore from writing it was like it was broken. So I had to do it but suddenly the music went off and we had to put everything away and go down to the mat. But anyway I can't wait until I get to start the stonecarving because it is going to be so fun!

Piccadilly Circus
Bonjour everyone, today at Enrich we did a Wilson game called Piccadilly Circus it is really crucial. First you have to get in to a circle and you aren't allowed to talk or if you do you will have to reset the game and restart. When you have had the balls you have to sit down and each time you finish you add another ball. The aim of the game is to get the least amount of time. After a while it is really fun :).

PMI
Hello, today at Enrich we did a PMI it stands for plus, minus and interesting things about being gifted. Darryn split the class in to 3 groups, I was with Nicola. All the groups thought of all the bad things, good things and interesting things about being gifted. You would be amazed about how many bad things there were even more then the good things! There were not many interesting things at all. The bad things were people saying "you're gifted you should know this", and "What are you good at?" and "you think different to everyone else." Some of the good things are at Enrich you get to work with people that think like you and you get to come to Enrich. Some of the interesting things are you get to learn more about what your gifts and talents are.

Concept Curriculum
Hi, today was the second day of Enrich. We found out what our concept curriculum was for the year. Patterns! I thought it was patience but i heard it wrong. We had to write down as many things as we knew about patterns. After we had to buddy up with two other people and write down what they had, and we had quite a lot of meanings and examples. Then we had to get with another group of three and we had to write down all the meanings and examples that us six had down on a A3 piece of paper. We handed it in to Darryn and he sent us away because we forgot put our names on it and then we had finished.
